IFIRP Fianarantsoa : Corruption network dismantled, over 8 Million Ariary misappropriated
The Territorial Directorate of the Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (BIANCO) in Fianarantsoa has uncovered a network of public officials involved in the misappropriation of advance salaries intended for three former students of the Interregional Paramedic Training Institute for (IFIRP) in Fianarantsoa. The acts, committed between 2022 and 2023, involve a total amount of 8,134,630 Ariary.
The investigation, initiated in 2024, revealed the existence of an internal embezzlement scheme involving several officials from different financial and administrative institutions. At the end of the investigations, six individuals were identified and brought before the Prosecutor’s Office of the Anti-Corruption Unit (PAC) in Fianarantsoa. Following their appearance before the Prosecutor, officials were remanded in custody, including an IFIRP Manager, an IFIRP Accountant, a Senior Tax Collector and a Supervisor from the Fianarantsoa General Treasury, an Accountant from the Fianarantsoa Regional Delegation of Financial Control, and another Senior Tax Collector who was placed under judicial supervision.
This operation marks a new step forward in the fight against the misappropriation of public funds in the education and public health sectors. BIANCO reiterates its determination to relentlessly pursue the prevention, detection, and repression of acts of corruption in order to protect the integrity of public resources.
