Madagascar’s evaluation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption : high-level consultations reaffirm the state’s commitment
As part of the country visit under the second cycle of the Review Mechanism for the Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, a delegation composed of representatives from the Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (BIANCO), the Integrity Safeguard Committee (CSI), evaluation experts, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) carried out courtesy visits today to high-ranking State authorities .

The delegation was received by the Prime Minister, the Vice-President of the National Assembly, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice, and the Minister of the Armed Forces, acting in his capacity as interim Minister of Foreign Affairs.
These meetings underscored the importance of this country visit, which marks a decisive step toward the completion of Madagascar’s evaluation. The authorities reaffirmed the State’s commitment to supporting the adoption and effective implementation of priority legislative reforms, particularly those relating to whistleblower protection, conflicts of interest, and immunities.
The evaluation experts from Djibouti and Tanzania welcomed the Malagasy Government’s continued support and invited Madagascar to participate in the preparatory work for the future review mechanism in Vienna in May 2027.
The discussions also reaffirmed that the fight against corruption remains at the heart of refoundation and that the results of this evaluation will serve as a key lever to strengthen, in the short term, the implementation of the country’s commitments to good governance and integrity.
