BIANCO carries Madagascar’s voice at the SADC Annual Conference on the fight against corruption
Madagascar, represented by the Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (BIANCO), actively participated in the Annual Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the statutory meeting of agency heads, held in Lilongwe, Malawi, from 22 to 25 June 2026. At the invitation of the SADC Executive Secretariat, the Director General of BIANCO presented Madagascar’s experience in whistleblower protection, highlighting the national legal framework, the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (SNLCC), as well as the draft legislation currently under development. This intervention, delivered during a session dedicated to regional best practices, earned Madagascar commendations from the SADC Secretariat and generated strong interest among Member States.

Madagascar’s participation was further highlighted at the statutory meeting, where the country volunteered, alongside South Africa and Zimbabwe, to contribute to the development of a regional training programme on prevention and public education. Member States also validated several strategic decisions, including the organisation of the SADC Anti-Corruption Exhibition and Games, scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe from 17 to 19 September 2026, aimed at strengthening public awareness and regional cooperation around the values of integrity. Through BIANCO, Madagascar thus reaffirms its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and sharing its expertise to promote integrity, transparency, and good governance within the SADC.
