Région BOENY : 29 communes formées sur la lutte contre la corruption

Boeny Region : 29 Communes trained in the fight against corruption

A two-day training on the Fight Against Corruption (FAC) was not enough for the mayors of the 29 communes in the Boeny region. The training was  held  on 23–24 March 2026 in the city of Mahajanga.

The mayors, accompanied by the presidents of communal councils and some municipal staff, demonstrated their determination to combat corruption. The training aimed to improve transparency, promote good governance and the rule of law, and strengthen anti-corruption efforts within each commune. It is expected to contribute to better administrative and financial management of these local authorities.

In addition to the Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (BIANCO) of Mahajanga, led by Madame RAZANABAHOAKA Sitraka Maria Patrick, the Anti-Corruption Unit (PAC), the Administrative Court (Tribunal Administratif), and the Financial Court  (Tribunal Financier)also shared their experiences.

“We have attended many trainings, but this one is different. You can count on our commitment: we are ready, and we will do our best to implement anti-corruption measures in our commune,” declared the mayors’ representative during the closing ceremony.

Mr. RABENANDRASANA Nicolas, Prefect of Mahajanga, officially opened the training alongside the Territorial Director of BIANCO Mahajanga, the representative of the Boeny Region, and the Mayor of the Urban Commune of Mahajanga.

This training for mayors is the result of a collaboration between BIANCO and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
