Toamasina hosts National Celebration of African Anti-Corruption Day

Toamasina, July 10, 2026 – The national celebration of African Anti-Corruption Day (AACD), commemorated on July 11, was marked  this day by the inauguration of the new building of the Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (BIANCO) in Toamasina, followed by the official ceremony held at Port Academy Center Toamasina(PACT) .

A big first in the history of the fight against corruption in Madagascar, the event was presided over by His Excellency Colonel Mickael RANDRIANIRINA, President of the Refoundation of the Republic, in the presence of Prime Minister Mamitiana RAJAONARISON, several ministers and members of parliament, as well as local authorities, representatives of ministerial anti-corruption structures, young people, and numerous public and private actors committed to the fight against corruption.

Held under the theme “ Scaling up the promotion of integrity and anti-corruption actions across Africa,” this edition provided an opportunity to reaffirm Madagascar’s commitment to transparency and integrity. In his address, the President of the Refoundation called on all actors, including young people, to engage actively in the fight against corruption so as to make it a driving force for Madagascar’s development.

The Director General of BIANCO, for his part, presented the main progress made in the areas of prevention, education, and recovery of illicit assets. He also announced a record number of 1,144 declarations of assets and economic interests(DPIE) received as part of the "Rodrodon'ny Fanambaram-pananana" campaign, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and organized for this national celebration, illustrating the national dynamics in  support of  transparency, integrity, and the promotion of public trust in leaders.
