Strengthening public accountability : Success of the “Rodorodon’ny fanambaram-pananana” campaign in Fianarantsoa

After Mahajanga, the awareness campaign titled “Rodorodon’ny fanambaram-pananana” made a step in Fianarantsoa. This second edition is held today at the ZOMATEL Hotel Restaurant , in the presence of key local authorities, including the Prefect of Fianarantsoa, the Secretary General of the Haute Matsiatra Region representing the Regional Chief, the Mayor of the Urban Commune of Fianarantsoa, the Coordinator of the Project for Strengthening Governance through Digitalisation (PREGODI) , and representatives of civil society.

Organized in the Haute Matsiatra region, this initiative aims to promote transparency in public affairs management and to bring the declaration of asset and economic interest service closer to those subject to the requirement, especially those from remote areas. Nearly 1,000  declarations of asset and economic interest(DPIE)  were recorded on this occasion.

In her speech, the Prefect of Fianarantsoa, Ms. Irma Juliandres HARILALAINA, emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the exercise of public responsibilities.

The Mayor of the Urban Commune of Fianarantsoa, Mr. RAMANANDRAIBE François d’Assise, set an example by publicly submitting his own  DPIE , reaffirming his commitment to good governance.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (BIANCO), Mr. RAZAKAMANANTSOA Gaby Nestor, reiterated the mandatory nature of the DPIE , specifying that the objective for this year 2026 is to exceed the 73% completion rate recorded in 2025. He also announced the imminent operationalization, thanks to the support of the African Development Bank through the PREGODI project, of a digital platform for dynamic management of  DPIE allowing those subject to the requirement to make their declarations online and to obtain an instant acknowledgment of receipt.
